As an avid cyclist, the parking structure is a building type I rarely have occasion to experience. In a city of outrageous real estate prices, and one gradually shifting away from private car transportation, the elevated parking structure might even be a subject of future heritage value. With their endlessly repeating forms, off-kilter floors, and structural rawness, I have found them to be a surprisingly fascinating place for visual experimentation.

The ubiquitous elevated urban parking structure is a building type not usually known for having particular architecture or other aesthetic value except perhaps as a setting for B-grade horror films. And, if you stop at exactly the right place and the right time…
